Who We Are

Maranatha means ‘Come, Lord Jesus.’ We put our hope in the revealed truth that God has come in Jesus to bring forgiveness and the peace of God’s kingdom. We commit ourselves to loving as Jesus loved us, serving others as Jesus has served, understanding that Jesus will come again ‘to judge the living and the dead’ (Apostles’ Creed).

Maranatha Christian Reformed Church: Your West Side community fellowship Maranatha began as a daughter church of First Christian Reformed Church (located on the north side) in 1975. We settled on our present location a few years later. Ever since we have committed ourselves to contributing to the spiritual and social needs of the West Side of Lethbridge. In 2007, we added on a community hall, a new children’s center, and extra class and meeting rooms in order to serve our community in the name of Jesus.

Past Pastors
Past ministers at 25th Anniversary

Our ministry and membership is not limited to West Lethbridge. We have members from Stirling to the South, on the way to Claresholm to the west, and from east of Coaldale. We share in provincial and western Canadian ministry with our sister Christian Reformed congregations north to Calgary and into Saskatchewan. We also support missionary and relief work around the world with the Christian Reformed Church of North America.

We are rooted in the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century. We are privileged to claim John Calvin and Guido deBres as our spiritual fathers. Our theology is grounded in works that have stood the test of time: the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort. Copies of these are found in the back of our hymnal. Our singing is rooted in the psalms, the great hymns of the faith, and in the best of today’s praise music.

Our congregation of 600 is comprised of young and old, a growing variety of ethnic backgrounds, and of those both new to Christianity and long-time believers.

Something is going on at Maranatha almost every day. All done to God’s glory and to fulfill our mission . . . Serving others as Jesus served us.
