Creed: We Believe in the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a unique person, who, together with the Father and the Son, is one being, the Trinity. He is not merely an it or a power; like any other person, He can be grieved, quenched, and resisted. The Holy Spirit is one with the Father and the Son; acting for both, He cannot communicate or act outside of what is revealed in the Bible. He is an agent of creation, the breath of God. He is the breath of new life in Christ. The Holy Spirit is the agent of our new creation in Christ. Jesus told Nicodemus that we all must be born again, by water and the Spirit. He is the author of scripture. The Holy Spirit inspired (breathed into) the writers of the Bible and, using them, their personalities, their place in history, their creativity, the Holy Spirit told God’s story, of creation, fall, redemption and restoration.

Recap

This week we are diving into Sunday’s text each and every day. By taking this text from John piece by piece it is my hope you can dive deep in the word of God, that you grapple with the text, ask questions and be transformed by what God is saying to you through His word.
