Beyond Sunday

God’s Faithfulness gives Life                                                                      April 29, 2019

Be a Blessing! That is the Gems 2018/2019 theme. On Sunday our Gems girls shared through song, story and service how they learned to be a blessing to those around them.

For me it was a big wakeup call as I watched these young girls be the hands and feet of Jesus. I thought what can I do? Am I hoarding my blessings?

It’s my prayer this week that we all can be awoken to what God has called us to. That we are on the lookout for opportunities to be a blessing. What could our city look like if we were always looking to bless others while sharing the good news of the greatest blessing- Jesus, that God bestowed upon us.

Questions to think about as you read:

  1. What stands out from Sunday’s passage? If you could dig deeper into one part of it, what would it be?
  2. This passage recounts God’s covenant with Abram. What did God do to seal this covenant? God is a promise keeper- thank Him for that today!
  3. On Sunday Pastor Paul talked about Jacob’s wrestling match with God. And near the end Jacob says he will not let go unless God blesses him. Jacob does gets blessed, but what happens first?
  4. As you read these words of the apostle Paul- How can you share these words with a co-worker, friend or neighbor this week?
  5. God does not change, this passage states that quite clearly. Listen to the song: Blessings by Laura Story and as you listen pray and thank God for all the blessings and for being a God who does not change.
  6. This passage serves as a great summary of the blessings God has poured over his children from the beginning. What are some blessings you have seen this week? How can you now go and bless others?
  7. This coming Sunday we look at the Passover and now as celebrators of the Lord’s Supper we can use the sacrament to tell our faith story. Pray today for the praise team, Josh as he preaches, all those involved in worship and all who come to hear God’s word proclaimed.
